The first couple days of school went by in a blur, but there was one thing (or person she should say) that had stood out. Stefan Salvatore. The handsome and mysterious new student that people couldn't seem to stop talking about and for good reason. Elena had yet to properly meet him, but she remembered the rather awkward encounter they had outside the men's bathroom and the lingering looks they had shared in history class. He seemed intrigued by her for some reason and if the female Gilbert was being honest, she was drawn to him as well. There was just something about him that drew her in. Something that she couldn't explain, but she wanted to figure out what it was. He was definitely hot, beautiful even, but it was more than that. There was an air of mystery about him that piqued her curiosity. She wanted to meet him officially and get to know him better.
Tonight was the night of the back to school party and Elena stood in her bedroom, admiring her reflection in the mirror. She wore a dark red tank top with a pink button down t-shirt over the top of it and a pair of dark blue jeans, topping off her look with a black leather jacket. Nothing too flashy. Her make up was minimal with just a hint of mascara and some shiny red lip gloss. She looked good. Ready to go out and party, socialize, and have fun. Elena had almost opted not to go, but had ultimately decided that she should go. Given what had happened at the last party she went to, she wasn't all that thrilled about a party, but Elena had vowed that things would be different. That she would start fresh and no longer be the sad little girl who lost her parents. Be someone new. So that was what she was going to do.
Arriving at the party, the pretty brunette glanced around. The party was already in full swing as students flooded all around, drinking, socializing, and even making out. Releasing a soft sigh, Elena steeled herself before plastering on a smile as she walked towards the gathering teens and grabbed herself a drink. Lifting the plastic cup to her lips, she took a sip of her beverage as she looked around in search of someone she knew. Elena could hear people gossiping about Stefan Salvatore and she wondered if he would be coming to the party tonight. Honestly, she hoped that he would, but she would just have to wait and see.

When he came back to Mystic Falls Stefan did not expect to stay. He only came back to check on his home and see his nephew Zach. Then something happened, he was out in the woods by Wickery Bridge when he heard a crash. He got there as fast as he could but the car was already submerged. He swam down to the car. He saw a man and woman in the front seat. The woman was already dead but the man was still alive and conscious. He was about to rip off the door and get the man out when the man started pointing to the back seat. Stefan looked in the back seat and saw a young girl, she looked to be about 16 or 17, probably the couples daughter. Then he got a good look at her face. She looked just like the woman that turned him into a vampire but that was impossible because she was dead. The man was frantically trying to get his attention so he snapped out of it and ripped the door off then he got her out. He took her to the surface and laid her down on the ground. She was unconscious but breathing then he went back to save the man but it was too late, he was dead. He went back to the girl but when he For the next few months he watched her from the shadows. He wanted to make sure that she wasn't Katherine. He found out that her name was Elena Gilbert and she was nothing like Katherine. He was going to leave Mystic Falls but now he had to know her. He enrolled in high school and even made sure to be in some of the same classes with her. The first day of school he was walking down the hall and noticed that all eyes were on him, which he expected since he was the new guy, as he was about to go into the men's room he bumped into someone coming out. It was her. All he could do was smile at her because her looking just like Katherine was throwing him off his game. He had heard about this back to school party at the falls and he planned on going he just hoped that she would be there. He showed up at the party that was already in full swing. There were people everywhere drinking and making out. He was hoping to see Elena but he wasn't sure she would be there. He stopped walking so he could listen and find her. He heard lots of people talking about him and then he found her so he started walking and ended up right behind her "Hey it's nice to see you here." He smiled at her as she turned around.
