The Guidelines
1. Descending Darkness is rated
2.There is no word count for the site, but if your writing partner sends you a starter or a reply that is a considerable length, please give them something that they can work with.
3. DD is account per character. Please register with @character'sfirstname and then when you're accepted you can change it to display your character's name such as Klaus Mikaelson. Please don't edit your name/mini profiles/avatars until you're accepted.
4. New applicants have two weeks to post and complete an application. If you need more time, please let a staff member know!
5. In regards to characters; there is no limit on how many characters you have, but please know your own limits. If the staff notice you're active on some characters but rarely post on your others, we will contact you. Also, if you're playing a canon character, the other characters you play shouldn't have a direct connection to each other. For example, you shouldn't play both Klaus and Elijah and Elena and Bonnie. This allows everyone to have a chance to create awesome threads with people that want to pick up these roles.
In addition to this, in order to apply for a new character, you will need 4 in character posts on your previous character first. This should be spread out between two threads writing with different characters. Then you can apply for another character.
6. The max signature size is 550x300.
7. DD has a zero tolerance policy for stealing content, bullying, disrespect, or any homophobia/sexism/racism/etc. Staff reserves the right to remove members that do so without warning.
8. Don't do anything permanent to another person's character without permission (kill, maim, break important body parts, knock up, etc etc); no godmodding. Although people will be able to be brought back on this site, don't kill someone without permission.
9. We won't archive threads, but it's your responsibility to reply to threads in a timely manner. If you're waiting for a response for an extended period of time, please either talk to the person that you're writing with or speak to a member of the staff.
10. If you're going to be away for an extended amount of time please post an LOA. If you don't you will still be held accountable for our ACs and activity requirements.
11. Activity checks will be taking place the last week of the month. Members will be required to do 4 posts in a month. Characters/accounts that don't pass and don't talk to an admin will be removed.
12. Despite DD being a fandom site please don't force 'canon' things onto other players. Each player has a right to follow whatever path they want for their character including relationship, job, and future.
13. Advertising will only be tolerated in the advertising section. Don't bother members in private messages or in the c-box, and don't post links in your signature.
