The year is 2009. After learning about the Petrova Doppelganger, Elena Gilbert, Elijah Mikaelson has made his way to Mystic Falls in order to protect her from his younger brother, Niklaus. Klaus Mikaelson wants to kill the doppelganger in order to unlock his werewolf side so he could become a true hybrid. Elijah wants to make sure that does not happen, so he poses as a teacher at the Mystic Falls high school so that he could get close to Elena and protect her. He is also on a quest to figure out what his brother had done with their other siblings, Rebekah, Kol and Finn.


Malachai Parker has also been released from the prison world. The Parker family has a long line of witches and warlocks that date back to the 10th Century. With their help, Esther and the Parker family forged the moonstone that bounded Klaus' werewolf side. Centuries later, Kai wanted to add more power to the moonstone to use for his personal gain. It was part of the reason as to why he killed the majority of his siblings. Also because he wanted to merge with his twin and become more powerful. But in order to escape the prison world, a celestial event needed to occur. While Bonnie and Sheila Bennett used their powers to open the tomb, they ultimately failed to close it again. But from the prison world, Kai was able to slip out and return to wreak havoc on Mystic Falls.

In this timeline, we are starting from season 1 of TVD, but with an AU twist. The Mikaelsons arrive in Mystic Falls much earlier. Elena Gilbert and Caroline Forbes are currently human. Bonnie is just learning about her powers. Damon and Stefan Salvatore also recently came back to the small town. Things will play out differently than how they were in the show, but certain things can be kept and will be played out in threads. But character arcs can go differently than how they were shown in the shows.

The characters from The Originals can also be played, but it's up to you to come up with a creative way as to how they are in Mystic Falls.
