Damon could barely hold the glass that was in his hand. He had filled it with bourbon and he shakily brought it to his lips, taking a sip from it. He was so angry. He felt like he had been taken for a fool, but how else was he supposed to react? He had worked so hard to get to this moment and he had left the tomb empty-handed. He was fed lies. That she was actually in the tomb. But the truth had been kept from him in order to lead him astray. To what end? With a growl, he gripped his glass tightly before throwing it into the fire that was in the fireplace. The flames grew bigger for a moment as the alcohol hit the orange flames. He needed to kill something. Someone. He needed to take out his anger on something before he exploded. He could feel himself slipping. This was his one chance and now it was gone. What else was he supposed to do?
When he heard the door of the boarding house open, he didn't bother seeing who it was. He just stared at the fire. He was seething while he watched the flames. At any point, he would lose control. But maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing at this point.

Stefan had no idea what they were going to find when they opened that tomb. He had no idea that the tomb even existed until Damon told him when he was trying to find out why Damon wanted a necklace from Bonnie. When Damon told him about the tomb and that he wanted to release Katherine, he wasn't going to help him but Damon was determined to open that tomb and he promised to leave town with Katherine after he got her out. Stefan couldn't wait to get rid of Damon. Stefan didn't know that Bonnie's Grams, Shelia Bennett, wasn't planning on lowering the seal on the tomb. She was going to open the door but no vampires would be able to get out. Stefan had gone to get the stuff to start the fires with and by the time he got back Damon had gone inside and taken Elena with him and then he was told that Damon would not be able to come out. Then Stefan heard her scream and without even thinking he rushed in there to save her knowing that he would be able to get out. Bonnie and Shelia worked on getting the seal down and he and Elena were trying to get Damon to come with them but he found out that Katherine was not in the tomb but Elena finally convinced him to leave the tomb. Stefan made sure that Elena got to Bonnie's but he wanted to make sure that Damon was okay so he went back to the house. He knew that it must be hurting Damon to know that someone he loved so deeply didn't give a crap about him. He walked back into the house. He saw Damon standing in front of the fireplace. He was watching the fire. Stefan walked over to the bar and poured two glasses of bourbon and then he walked over to where Damon was standing. He offered the drink to Damon "I'm sure you could use this." He took a sip from his own drink and then looked at Damon "Look I know that you are hurting right now but please don't do anything stupid. I don't want to wake up in the morning and find out you went on killing spree. Do we have an understanding?" He really hoped his brother was smarter than that.

Then he heard Stefan's words and they were almost laughable. He downed the rest of his drink before glaring at his younger brother. "Oh, what? You think I'm going to go off the rails because I found out that Katherine never loved me?" He asked with a roll of his eyes. That's exactly what he wanted to do. "You could even pretend that you're concerned for my well-being, even if it's just a little." The older Salvatore responded. Then he walked back towards the bourbon and poured himself another glass. He should have expected this, right? But he actually believe that Katherine cared about him and didn't love Stefan. But he had been wrong. He was used and the only reason as to why he wanted to become a vampire was because he wanted to be with her. So when he learned that she was supposed to be in the tomb in Mystic Falls, he regained hope. That dreadful feeling that always left him broken in the end.
Then he turned back to look at his brother. "You really think that I would be stupid enough to start killing people again after we tried getting the council off of our backs?" He asked before taking another sip of his drink. Even though he desperately wanted to rip someone's throat out. "If I want to kill someone, I'll do it. Because that's who I am, Stefan. It's in my nature."

He nodded "Yes I do Damon. I know the hold that Katherine has on you. The hope that you had that she was in that tomb was enough to keep you from going off the deep end but now that you know she wasn't in there, well that can push anyone over the edge." He downed his drink and then walked back over to Damon at the bar "You are my brother Damon and I am concerned for you. I know you are hurting but please be careful."He knew his brother well enough to know that he probably wouldn't believe a word he was saying right now but he had to say it "Katherine only loves one thing and that is herself. She doesn't love me and I certainly do not love her. She only thinks she loves me. Okay brother?" He pats him on the back "Are you going to be okay? I need to go call Elena and let her know that we both made it home okay."
